Can a pilot go from first officer at a regional airline to first officer at a major/legacy airline?
Is this possible and how often does it happen? If you're a first officer at a regional airline does your time in the right seat count for anything towards your time as PIC if you want to get hired by an airline like Delta or United? I just really want to know if I have to become a captain at a regional before I can become a first officer at a major airline or if I can hopefully go from first officer to first officer without having to spend that extra time as a captain.

Probably not
Most major airlines are gonna want you to have about 500 pilot in command turbojet/turbo-prop experience just to be a first officer in thier 737. I'm sure you know how difficult it is to build that kind of time. Unless you have a lot of money to get typed in something and build the time you'd probably have to become a captain where you are at, build the PIC time in a turbo-prop or jet of some kind.
In aviation, it's not what you know but who you know. I'd try to find someone who is doing thier training with the majors and see if they can get you connected with a simulator instructor or someone in human resources.
