Question by David B: Japanese regional airline pilot to US based regional pilot?

I'm about to join a regional airline as a pilot here in Japan, but my ultimate goal is to fly for a carrier based in the US(regional or domestic preferred). Would this be possible as long as I log in the hours? And yes, I have US citizenship.

To answer your question yes, but make sure and log all the hours. I assume you hold a CAA type rating for the aircraft you will be flying. You can use those hours to build time in the turbine, but I would suggest you contact and Flight Standard District Office (FSDO) or International Field Office (IFO) and asked to speak to an operations inspector (pilot type). They will be able to give you the interpretation of part 61 on this matter.

You can find a FSDO or IFO go to the FAA web site at http://www.faa.gov
